Happy Birthday sweet little Louise!!!
We are excited to celebrate Louise’s very first birthday. She has had another great month, making progress slowly but steadily. Louise has a good appetite and is gaining weight. She can now sit with support and pick things up with her thumb and first finger. While she is behind developmentally, she is catching up quickly. She likes to smile at familiar faces and sometimes cries when her nanny leaves the room. She is partial to her bouncy seat and can often be found sound asleep in it.
Adrienne was able to take 30 ml (about an ounce) of formula last night, and she had a little bloating but it was much better than before. Her tummy is soft and she seems much more comfortable. Our hospital monitor says that Adrienne is sleeping well, and will quietly watch people in the room when she is awake. Below you can see she wasn’t too happy to be uncovered for a photo, but it’s nice to see she is putting a little weight back on those legs.
Diana is getting more adorable by the day, and it is also evident that she is putting on weight based on those chubby cheeks of hers☺! Just this month, Diana has gained over a pound and she now weighs almost 12 1⁄2 pounds….Earlier in the month, Diana had a sty on her right eye and was treated with medication to alleviate any discomfort as she heals from this. Her diaper rash is slowly healing and she is still being treated with zinc oxide and perilight as needed to reduce the inflammation. Her nannies take such good care of her and continue to keep her exposed bladder clean and free of infection…Please continue to keep Diana in your thoughts and prayers in the weeks to come. She has come such a long way up to this point. Thank you for your donations that allow Diana to receive the medical attention that she needs. We are truly grateful for your continued support of Diana.
Bonnie thankfully had a very successful surgery. After her initial examination, the operating doctor decided to close up the large fistula for Bonnie rather than just completing the colostomy. Then, even more good news, once surgery had begun it was decided that she could get by without a colostomy at all. What a relief, that means one less surgery for our sweet Bonnie as the colostomy would have required a reversal in the future. All in all her surgery was complete after about two hours and the doctors remarked that she was a very strong baby throughout her stay. We knew that already, didn’t we?….Thank you so much for giving Bonnie this opportunity for health and happiness. You are truly making a difference in her life!
Anthony is feeding well and gaining weight. He is receiving his immunizations on schedule. He sleeps without issue and wakes when he is hungry. He smiles at the staff, and is able to track moving persons and objects. He is able to cry when his needs are not met. Anthony is doing well. …Special Need: anal stenosis, possible intestinal obstruction; post op: anoplasty (reparative surgery of anus), colostomy, repair of urinary tract & rectal fistulas
Hi Kim & Jane!……Little Louise had her life-saving heart surgery on July 1st. Although she developed a post-surgery respiratory infection, she recovered quickly. Her appetite improved and she is more energetic. Louise was discharged on July 15th
Hi Kim & Jane,..Thank you for your recent donation to little Mildred!! She is now able to have the surgery that she desperately needs. I’ll let you know when she is scheduled.I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and continued support. We could not help the precious children of China without our wonderful sponsors.
Mildred had her surgery on August 12th and is recovering in ICU. She did develop a post-op infection but is breathing on her own and is doing as well as can be expected.
Hi Kim & Jane!…I wanted to give you a quick update on some of the children that you have generously sponsored. Little Del has struggled since her surgery in April. She had a set-back, but she is a fighter and is getting stronger. We are all hopeful that she will have a full recovery and thrive at the healing home.
Cute Kenny had his surgery on April 25th and a recent echo shows that the surgery was a success!! Although he has been fighting a respiratory infection since the surgery, his appetite is good and he is sleeping well.Isn’t he precious?..Kenny developed a little respiratory infection after his surgery, but quickly recovered and was discharged into the arms of his waiting foster family.
Kim and Jane…..It is with a very sad heart that I write to let you know that baby Belle passed away a few hours after her surgery today. Dr. Li was her surgeon, and he is an amazing man who has operated on over 400 children for us. He is actually a Christian surgeon in China – and he never gives up on any child. He was able to spend two years at the University of Michigan training in heart surgery many years ago, and now he is the head of heart surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Hangzhou. He told us that she survived the initial surgery, and her oxygen levels went from 60% to 85%. But about an hour after that, she went into arrest. They tried everything possible to save her life – but she passed away soon after. I just want to thank you so much for giving her this chance. I so wanted a different outcome for sweet Belle – but I do know she is now being held in heaven.
From Kim and Jane…..We are deeply saddened by this news. We were so hoping and praying she would live. When children suffer it is heartbreaking and death is always unbearable because the future exists in our children. We were aware that this was a high risk case and we were holding tight. She is certainly in a more beautiful place and who knows what life would’ve afforded her on earth. Only God knows. We all tried our best and these efforts will always be rewarded…It was our honor to be a part of this operation. We are so grateful that we were included in this noble attempt……God bless Bella…..Kim and Jane

God’s footprints of Love are all over this! Wanna hear another faith building story as Joseph Prince calls it Net breaking, boat sinking lotta fishes!? Back in my early teens, I had to greatest youth pastors on the planet. Okay I’m not mentioning names, but I’ll give addresses LOL. Anyways, these two folks who had been married and done so much for nieces and nephews (due to their own childlessness). Into their early 40′s the Lord began to tug on the wife’s heart about doing exchange ministry from college age kids in Japan. It was a strange fixation that hubby knew nada about for a long time. Keep in mind that one is spirit filled and the other loves Jesus, but would rather watch sports on Sunday……. Long story short…..The wife gets her fleece out before God and gets a smoke signal whereby she prays her prayers and asks for a sign (puring over a list of names of potential students she can look into “hosting” and hoping hubby will come on board) There are two names that stand out like a sore thumb. YUKI and TAKAKO. she broods all day and for some days trying to find the courage to ask (and of course butter him up w/good cooking). Being the practical, creative woman she is, she doesn’t over spiritualize it, but uses his left brain side to wit him and puts all the names of the “potentials” into a hat and proceeds to make a childlike game seem a possibility. He draws out 2 names and yep you guessed already right (twilight theme music plays ) YUKI and TAKAKO were the first of many Japanese students who came into that precious haven over the years…… Have faith, have great childlike faith, radical (toy buying, room decorating faith that moves mountains and sets up nativities assuming the best and thanking Him for His timing and good grace to deliver the gifts when all is prepared) May He touch your hearts with His great love today beloved.
Shalom!
